New Horizons of Success and Failure

Hurraahh!!!!  We won.....The History has been created. The first time a Silver has been won in badminton, and that too, by a woman.  Ms. P.V. Sindhu has succeeded in winning a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, 2016, even after her lose from World No. 1, Carolina Marin of Spain.

 Many eyes remained glued to the match, thousands of prayers were offered for Sindhu before and during the match and the best part was that even after her defeat, people praised her and congratulated her for her determination, grit and performance during the match. No doubt, she is quite young and has miles to go, yet her fighting spirit was awesome.......and that truly deserves praise.

 Really, win or loss, hardly matters.  What matters a lot is the determination to achieve something. The hardwork one does, the motivation and perseverance  one acquires, and more importantly the knowledge and change in personality prompts an individual to achieve something  even after losing at maiden chance. We have many examples of achievers who had to face challenges in the initial phase of their attempts to achieve success.  

There is a famous saying, ‘’Rome was not built in a day”. Of course, many trials and tribulations are encountered by a warrior, rather, a seeker. Here, I would like to cite a story. Once, two stones were talking at a sculptor’s place. One of them said, “We were brought from the same place, but how come you turned into the statue of a deity and I remained a simple piece of stone?” The other one calmly replied, I tolerated the pain when I was beaten by hammer and patiently allowed the sculptor to turn me into a statue but you broke down by his hammer” Actually, this applies in life also. When we want to achieve something, we have to bear pains, we have to face losses, criticisms and other obstacles. One who gets broken by them and quits, fails to achieve the ultimate. But, who goes on and on with his work, succeeds

And, the world always salutes the rising stars. But what about the non- achievers? Are they destined to get lost amongst the crowd? Yes, it’s true. Such non-achievers who worked hard, but could not achieve their goal, often get lost, remaining unrecognized.  We can find many faces around us who often feel depressed due to ‘unsuccess’ which they term as “failure”. They themselves forget what they have acquired during the journey and let the society exploit their worth.  In contrast, there are some who try and find a candle of light inspite of darkness. That is, inspite of unsuccess in achieving their ultimate, they don’t let that failure exploit them and they turn out to be winners on their own and to the world also.  Here, I would like to use quotes by an unknown poet,

                                                           “kya haar mein, kya jeet mein,

                                                             Kinchit nahi bhaibheet main

                                                             Sangharsh path per jo mile,

                                                             Yeh bhi  sahi, wah bhi sahi”

The moral of the story is that though success attracts everyone, it is not the ultimate end of life. Indeed, the taste of success is very delicious and everyone thrives for it, one should not get carried away by the zeal. Preserving one’s own individuality and worth is the most important thing and this is the thing that is beyond all success and failures.
